When coming into this course, the entire idea of research was foreign to me. I guess I thought research involved just looking up information but after eight weeks of learning the ins and outs of the research process, I have learned a great deal. Every little piece of information was new to learn, so obviously no ideas of mine about research has changed. The entire step by step process however was enlightening, when I saw my own detailed study forming before my eyes, it definitely honed my skills of focusing on the details especially during the planning, designing and conducting process. I have to say that it also helped with me organize my thoughts so I am glad I went through this process, especially for that reason. The challenges I faced in this course, would probably be ironing out confusing concepts or ideas covered within the readings. In my own way of learning, I find it hard at times understanding possible complicated readings especially readings with new terminology. I think I eventually made sense of it all though.
My perceptions of the early childhood professional have truly been enriched by this experience. I find that there’s another aspect of the profession in which I’m educated about and for that I respect it even more. There’s a lot that goes into conducting a research study and there’s a lot that a professional is putting on the line in the process, especially with their career and reputation. I am glad I went through this both enlightening and valuable experience in this course and I look forward to hopefully utilizing these lessons within my career and daily life.
On a personal note, I have learned a lot as well from my colleagues and I want to take the time to say thank you for your support, guidance, encouragement and teaching of what you brought to our class. I only hope to continue interacting and learning from you all. Dr Davis, I also would like to thank you for your endless feedback and encouragement, especially during my struggles. It was great to have you as my teacher again, I look forward to learning from you again in the future, if that so happens. Good Luck to everyone and thank you again.
